2019 Conference

Looking forward to the BMEEA Conference Day 2019

The 2019 British Marine Electrical and Electronics Association Conference is due to take place on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 starting at 10.00am at the Novotel, West Quay, Southampton. This exciting event provides an opportunity for all sectors of the marine industry to get together not only to discuss topics of mutual interest but also to create and build beneficial business relationships as well as stimulating interest from apprentices, in career opportunities in the leisure marine service industry.

Introduced by Derek Gilbert, BMEEA Chairman

The Conference will include a number of presentations by distinguished speakers.  We will also present opportunities for Youth and apprenticeships within our industry, including the importance and value of such schemes to our businesses, as well as changes happening within BM and BMEEA and how BMEEA can best support our members’ needs in the future.

During the day, we will also be running a competition specifically for apprentices, aimed directly at apprentices and delegates from colleges or boat-builders for up to 10 teams of 2 people each.  The task will be to design, build and demonstrate a simple electrical installation (using low voltage dc) – these will be judged on best practice, quality, layout and effectiveness – the specific task to be announced on the day!  A decision will be taken as to the best team of two, who will be invited to stay on for the annual dinner. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team.

Plenty of time will also be available during the day for networking sessions with colleagues from all parts of our industry.

The afternoon will finish with our brief AGM to which all members are welcome

After a full day of conferencing and following the Annual General Meeting, the following awards will be presented:

Don’t miss it…!

Derek Gilbert, BMEEA Chairman said:

“Our customers will again have the opportunity to choose the ‘Industry’s Dealer’ and ‘Product of the Year’ by simply voting over a 2 month period on our website from the beginning of September. The ‘BMEEA Newly Certificated Technician of the Year Awards’ will be chosen from a shortlist of newly certificated engineers across the industry from both Electrical and Electronic backgrounds. The day should be full of interest with the return of the previously successful apprentice competition.”

The Conference is open to all in the marine industry – and is free for up to 2 delegates from BMEEA member companies; additional delegates, and non-BMEEA members will be chargeable – details to follow – to include entrance to all the presentations, coffee and lunch.

Any non-BMEEA member interested in attending should contact Tony Johns, Secretary of the BMEEA by email on .
